In order to strengthen Nordic-Russian cooperation in the knowledge sector, the Nordic Council of Ministers is working to establish a joint Nordic-Russian programme in education and research in cooperation with relevant authorities in Russia.

The aim is to establish a program for cooperation in areas of mutual Nordic-Russian interests defined in priorities jointly given by the Nordic side and Russian authorities. The mutual interests should be realized through joint funding and programme management.

In order to prepare for the planned programme, the Nordic council of Ministers will fund preparatory actions in 2008. For cooperation at all levels of education, from basic education and vocational education to higher education and adult learning, there is an open call for proposals. As regards research cooperation, the call will be limited to selected research institutions.

Thematic and other priorities for the preparatory actions are elaborated on the basis of a dialogue between the Nordic Council of Ministers and representatives of authorities and the education sector in Russia.

The complete call and application form is available at SIU's web page.
