Nordplus is the Nordic Council of Ministers' most important programme in the area of lifelong learning.
History
The Nordplus programmes go back to 1988 and 1989. Up to 2004 the Nordic schemes and programmes for education, language and research were divided into 11 different actions, with different target groups and steering committees, some of them even older then the Nordplus programmes.
In 2002 – 2003 number of the programmes was reduced and the new Nordplus was established in 2004, organised as five sectoral programmes.
From 2008 the Nordplus programme is organised as a framework programme, and Baltic countries are invited to take part on equal footing with their Nordic counterparts.
