Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia in cooperation with Comparative Studies Institute of Daugavpils University invites to the presentation of the collection of essays “Comparative Studies" in Latvia.
In order to take up the studies of the specific character of culture regions in a comparative aspect, in 2005 Nordi –Baltic–Russian Network in Comparative Cultural Studies was formed in the framework of the programme Nordplus Neighbour founded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Its activities are coordinated by the Comparative Studies Institute of Daugavpils University. Up to now the network has united more than 30 university teachers and researchers from Norway, Latvia, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, and Russia who are engaged in Baltic and Nordic comparative culture studies (initially the research topics covered also the area of north-western Russia).
The best network
The Nordic–Baltic–Russian Network in Comparative Cultural Studies is nominated by Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia as one of the best Nordplus Neighbour network project coordinated from Latvia. The collection of culture essays was recently presented at the conference “The Memoirs of the 20th Century: Nordic and Baltic Experience” at Oslo Litteraturhuset on 8–9 May 2008. The conference was organised by Comparative Studies Institute of Daugavpils University.
