&lt;p&gt;Over 700 applications were submitted to Nordplus this spring, an increase of 17 per cent compared to 2011.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Four out of five Nordplus sub-programmes have received more applications this year than last. The Baltic countries are more active participants than ever. These are some of the findings from this year’s pile of applications. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Further development of the Nordic welfare model was on the agenda when the Nordic ministers of education met in Copenhagen on November 2. Tora Aasland, the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, called for programmes based on research for the education and training of staff in the health sector. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Nordplus is a valuable program and Higher Education is the most established sub-programme, according to the recently published evaluation report. Higher Education programme is currently experiencing growing participation of the Baltic countries and increasing interest towards express mobility. Actors have had distinct visions on the future of the programme. Nordic Council of Ministers has decided to conserve the programme structure but to strengthen Higher Education’s profiling and prioritise innovative projects. Preparations for the programme period 2012–2016 will be initiated in the autumn.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;214 networks applied for support for a total of 11.5 million euros. The programme granted funds to 189 networks for over 4 million euros. The networks received support for student and teacher mobility, development projects, intensive courses, joint degree programmes and network activities. Networks within healthcare and teacher training were still among the most active.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Some of the project that started in 2008 have received an e-mail saying that it is time to submit a report. The reports should be submitted through the &lt;a href="http://ars.norden.org/" title="Application and Reporting System" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;b&gt;ARS&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;. In the revised &lt;a href="/eng" target="_self"&gt;&lt;b&gt;user guide&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt; for ARS, each step of the reporting is described.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Nordic Ministers of Education have decided to establish a Nordic Climate Day 2009. The Nordic Climate Day will be launched on 11 November and will create greater awareness and knowledge about the climate, as well as active involvement of pupils, apprentices, teachers and trainers in climate matters in the light of the UN's climate summit in Copenhagen. Initiatives attached to the Nordic Climate Day may be included in applications for the Nordplus Framework Programme.&lt;/p&gt;
