The Nordic Council of Ministers’ programme Nordplus 2012-2016 makes funds available for cooperation within education in the Nordic and Baltic areas. Application deadline is 1 March 2013.

Over 700 applications were submitted to Nordplus this spring, an increase of 17 per cent compared to 2011.

Four out of five Nordplus sub-programmes have received more applications this year than last. The Baltic countries are more active participants than ever. These are some of the findings from this year’s pile of applications.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has extended the Nordplus programme for the period of 2012-2016. The call for proposals is now available, and the application deadline is the 1st of March 2012.

Further development of the Nordic welfare model was on the agenda when the Nordic ministers of education met in Copenhagen on November 2. Tora Aasland, the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, called for programmes based on research for the education and training of staff in the health sector.

Evaluation of Nordplus: Innovation and profiling keys to future success

Nordplus is a valuable program and Higher Education is the most established sub-programme, according to the recently published evaluation report. Higher Education programme is currently experiencing growing participation of the Baltic countries and increasing interest towards express mobility. Actors have had distinct visions on the future of the programme. Nordic Council of Ministers has decided to conserve the programme structure but to strengthen Higher Education’s profiling and prioritise innovative projects. Preparations for the programme period 2012–2016 will be initiated in the autumn.

Nordplus Higher Education grants 189 networks

214 networks applied for support for a total of 11.5 million euros. The programme granted funds to 189 networks for over 4 million euros. The networks received support for student and teacher mobility, development projects, intensive courses, joint degree programmes and network activities. Networks within healthcare and teacher training were still among the most active.

A total number of 598 applications were received in the 2011 Nordplus Framwork Programme application round for. Among these, 442 projects have been granted and will share the total sum of approximately 8 million Euros.

The Nordic Council of Ministers (NMR) wishes to conduct an evaluation of the Nordplus Framework Programme and the Nordplus Nordic Language and Culture Programme during the period 2009–11. The call for proposals to carry out this project is now open.

The results of the 2009 application round are now ready, and the applicants will be contacted by the chief administators of their respective Nordplus-programmes.

Time for reporting?

Some of the project that started in 2008 have received an e-mail saying that it is time to submit a report. The reports should be submitted through the ARS. In the revised user guide for ARS, each step of the reporting is described.

Call for proposals to Nordic Master Program 2009

The Nordic Council of Ministers continues the successful pilot project of Nordic Masters. In 2009, Nordic institutions of higher education are welcome to apply for funding up to 1 million DKK for development of Nordic Master Programs.

The application deadline is April 30, 2009.

Nordic Climate Day

The Nordic Ministers of Education have decided to establish a Nordic Climate Day 2009. The Nordic Climate Day will be launched on 11 November and will create greater awareness and knowledge about the climate, as well as active involvement of pupils, apprentices, teachers and trainers in climate matters in the light of the UN's climate summit in Copenhagen. Initiatives attached to the Nordic Climate Day may be included in applications for the Nordplus Framework Programme.

Nordplus Higher Education turns 20 years in 2008 and is making headway. Throughout the period, impressive 565 million DKK has been allocated through the programme.

Results of the application round

All applications submitted by the deadline 21 April are now being processed by the Nordplus administrators and will be put to the various Nordplus Programme Committees for decision. Due to unfortunate technical problems with the Application- and Reporting System (ARS), we are not able to notify all applicants on the results before 21 July.
