Further development of the Nordic welfare model was on the agenda when the Nordic ministers of education met in Copenhagen on November 2. Tora Aasland, the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, called for programmes based on research for the education and training of staff in the health sector.
At the meeting, Tora Aasland said that she believes the Nordplus programme can meet future challenges for the development of the Nordic welfare model.
‒ The Nordplus programme can be helpful with regard to many of the challenges that we face, both in terms of health care and in terms of finding the means to prevent adolescents from dropping out of school.
Aasland emphasises the ability to exchange knowledge and cooperation between the countries as some of the most positive aspects of the Nordplus programme. Her hopes are that all the countries make use of the programme in order to encourage learning across borders.
