Aims:
•	Students will learn to use and understand the concept sustainability
•	Students will investigate and understand their nation‘s way of life and basic industry
•	Students will know the organisms which have been used and harvested in the past; in addition to how they were utilized
•	Students will get to know the basic industry in their country, how natural resources are used in order to sustain that industry and whether sustainability is taken into account in said industry
•	Students will acquired new English vocabulary on sustainability, industry, biology, etc. in order to being able to communicate in English about the project
•	Students will study the points above in the visiting country
•	Students will compare the level of sustainability of each country and attempt to define the difference

Operation:
•	Students will use classrooms provided for LIF-113 (course in Ecology) during fall of 2012 to study various animal species, population harvesting, population size and fluctuation in population size. Students will try to speculate on the reasons for fluctuations in population size. These assignments will focus on students‘ research, essay writing and peer instruction.
•	The concept of sustainability will be looked into, especially regarding what factors make living conditions unsustainable. Students will attempt to find out whether and why unsustainable ways of life have been/are practised in Iceland. This will be a group project where each group will investigate a certain line of work, for example dairy processing, fishing, sheep farming, the electricity-industry, the tourist industry, poultry cultivation, greenhouse farming, etc. The students will then introduce their findings to their fellow students (peer instruction).
•	English will be the operating language of the assignment and students are expected to learn how to communicate and discuss the topic in English. It is vital that students learn the appropriate vocabulary in connection with the topic at hand.
•	A short survey will be conducted in order to establish whether students have fully grasped the concept of sustainability.

•	In spring 2013 a co-operating school will be visited where the communication language will be English and the students will, among other things, use their time to explore the basic industry in the host country, focusing on sustainability.
•	After returning home students will reflect on how far Iceland has developed in sustainability. Furthermore, students will look into whether the current level of sustainability can be explained by history, nature, politics, etc., as well as assessing how far or short sustainability has developed in Iceland.

Schedule:
•	Resource gathering, investigative work and basic knowledge will be acquired during fall 2012
•	A trip to the cooperative country will be made in spring 2013. By that time, the groups should have finished investigating the situation of their visiting country and will have processed that information properly

I´m very interested in being part of a project. First some facts:

1. I have never been part of any kind of EU-project before, thought that would be good for you to know. Due to that I´m not used to write an application.

2. My thought with the project is an exchange of teachers and not of schoolclasses or groups. I have no possibility at the moment to receive a group of pupils or arrange for a group of my pupils to travel to you.

2. I´m a teacher of textile crafts but I have a colleague who teaches wood and metal crafts. Arts is not taught by any special teacher but several of my collegue are very interested in art and have some art in their degree. The pupils study crafts 1,5 hour per week and it´s a mandatory subject. That´s how it works in most swedish schools.

We are a regular municipal school in a suburb outside Stockholm called Sundbyberg. The school is called Duvboskolan. We have no special focus on art. Our pupils are aged from 6 to 11 years old.

My thoughts about a project

My thought with the project is to get inspiration and information about craft and teaching of craft in other nordic countries. I would like to visit you, your school and classroom and get to know what your curriculum sais about the subject craft. What you teach and how you teach it. If it´s posible I would also like to know more about the history of craft in your country. Then I would like you to come and visit us and show you the same things.

I would like to start a discusion during our visits about: "How we teach" and "What we teach". Perhaps it´s also interesting to talk about "why we teach".

After the visits I would like to build up a network for teachers of crafts in the nordic countries. I would like to widen the project so that we can go and visit a third nordic country together and start discussions with them. Exchange content in our teaching of craft and also discuss how and perhaps why we teach it. Like that I would like it to go on with a fourth Country and so on until everybody has visited all nordic countrys

The network we will then build up as some kind of internet platform where we can have forums for discussions, ressources for our lessons, pictures of nordic craft and so on.

Finally I would like us to start a blog for the pupils together. On the blog they can post pictures and texts about their work.

We might be able to use eTwinning as a platform, also a EU-projekt as you probably already know.

My goal with the projekt and how the pupils get´s involved is:

To be able to teach nordic craft instead of just swedish craft

To show the pupils whats around them and to widen their perspective.

To Increase the possibility to discuss and vary the ways of teaching craft, "how to teach".

To increase the possibility to discuss and vary the content in my teaching, "what to teach"

How will it live on
Teachers of craft visiting each other once a year in one of the nordic countries, varying hosts.
An internet-based network for teachers of craft.
A nordic blog for pupils who study crafts.

I hope this sounds interesting to You!
Best regards
Åsa Nilsson Hedblad
Teacher of crafts Sundbyberg, Sweden

Now we are looking for partners or coordinator for Nordplus Junior project.

In this project we are interested in mobilities - the exchange of teachers and
staff, the aims of which are:
- to promote the development of quality, creativity and innovation in education;
- to strengthen the Nordic languages and promote knowledge and understanding about Nordic cultures, languages and ways of life in schools, and in daily life.

About our school:

Ventspils secondary school 3 represents a state-funded, day school, which is situated near the Baltic sea.
The aim of our school is to provide our students with qualitative education, inspiring them to achieve the best results in their studies and become multilingual, tolerant and highly educated citizens, successful in any profession. We are interested in sharing and exchanging our experience with colleagues in Latvia and abroad.
The curriculum of our school is developed according to the humanistic approach to teaching and traditions of classical education, especially concentrating on the study of languages and science. Our school is well equipped with computing facilities and modern technologies. Various lessons are often organised using IT technologies in specially equipped computer rooms. All our students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities at the basic school level.
There are language clubs, workshops and seminars, organised on the basis of various subjects such as art, history and literature. Most of our students appreciate the opportunity and take active part in this extracurricular work. Our students also engage in research activities starting from grade 9 and they conduct their researches in various fields such as linguistics, humanitarian and exact sciences. We prepare our students to be successful in studies and achieve the best results in their chosen career. Our aim is to work in our schools within this interdisciplinary project to motivate our students to closer investi
We want our students to become Europeans citizens in a broader sense of this notion, that means that learning within an European project will raise pupils’ self-confidence by challenging them with achievable tasks and will develop key competences to pupils in a complex but effective way. So in the future they will become successful grown-up people.
